I spent time in an Ecuador cloud forest garden, quietly watching Rufous-tailed Hummingbirds move between flowers. I waited for the moment when one’s tail flared open during feeding—a quick, often missed detail—and adjusted shutter speed to show wing motion while keeping its body sharp. The colors and the stillness made it worth waiting for.
