I like shooting these burrowing owls near Scottsdale because the low terrain lets me get close to their burrow entrances. This February day, overcast skies softened the light, making the owl’s bright yellow eyes and feather texture really stand out against the muted background. It’s a quiet, watchful moment that feels new each time I visit.
